Soccer Spring Season
Select Your League
SYSA hosts the largest recreational soccer league in Spokane County. The spring session consists of 5 spring games. SYSA offers small-sided games for youth that are adjusted for each age group. This in combination with our effort to ensure each player receives at least 50% playing time means that every kid gets more touches on the ball.
SYSA practices and most games (as the league allows) will be played in your neighborhood.
SYSA Recreational teams also have the opportunity to play in the Wendle Tournament held in mid-May (an additional 3+ games) for an additional team fee. Tournament dates: May 17-19, 2019
Our mission is for all youth to play, develops skills, learn good sportsmanship, and understand the value of being a team player.
Beginning August 1, 2017, ALL youth players in the United States register for youth soccer teams based on their birth year. As a recreational program, we have the flexibility to allow your player to “play-up” one year to play with their friends/classmates. Our aim is to continue to provide the highest quality recreational program in the area.
The SYSA soccer programs gradually become more sophisticated as the participant’s age increases. SYSA follows the objectives of the US Youth Soccer. Teams play small-sided games to “improve player confidence and comfort with the ball” and “develop intelligence with and without the ball”.
The 2014 Rookie participant practices/plays one day per week at the same field and time. This program is designed to introduce soccer to youth in a fun and dynamic environment where they can work on their coordination and understanding of the game.
For 2013 through 2011 participants, the commitment jumps to two days per week during the season, as the youth’s attention span catches up to their amazing ability to absorb new techniques, strategies, and fundamentals. The participants will have one weeknight practice and one Saturday game. Coaches may be present on the field during the games to help officiate and develop the players. Practices and games will be played in your neighborhood.
2010 through 2005 players play three times per week during the season – two weeknight practices and one Saturday game. This jump in commitment level fuels player bonding and team chemistry. Referees are requested for this older group as coaches step off the field during the games to allow the players to develop and make decisions more independently. These changes are all accompanied by an increase in both field size and players on the field as the youth advance through the age groups. 8th graders with an Aug-Dec 2004 birth year may register and play in the 2006-2005 league.
The high school grades 9th-12th grade co-ed league gives older players an opportunity to play soccer in an organized league where everyone makes the team and is able to compete.
SYSA provides training curriculum and coaching clinics for the volunteer coaches. Spokane Sounders coaches are also available for coaches to receive additional assistance with their team practices.
SYSA Soccer is an official partner club with the Seattle Sounders FC.
