Fall 2026 Cross Country
SYSA Cross Country is a fun, recreational fall program for all youth, grades K-5. The 2026 Cross Country six-week season will begin August 31st with the first competition on Saturday, September 12th.
There are 5 Saturday meets. Participants in K-5th grade will run a mile. Meets are located at different Spokane area parks. Runners who qualify are eligible to participate in the All-City Meet at the end of the season.

$110 Grades K-5
**A non-refundable 3% banking fee and a $1 service fee will be added at the time of check out.**
Practices
Begins August 31st.
The coach determines the practice day, time, and location.
Practices will be twice a week during the season.

Annual SYSA Candy Fun Run October 25th
When: October 24th at 10:00 am
How to Register: RSVP sent to SYSA runners’ families.
Where: Andrew Rypien Fields
What: A 1 mile run with your XC friends and collecting candy along the way!
What to bring: A bag to collect your candy, athletic attire and running shoes, and a water bottle

Player Provides
Athletic attire appropriate for the weather, labeled water bottle, and athletic shoes.
Coaches Meeting
Pre-season coaches slides will be sent out prior to the start of the season.
IMPORTANT:
- A Volunteer Head Coach is needed before a team starts. All SYSA coaches are volunteers. Head Coaches need assistants – register as an assistant if you can help!
- Volunteer Head Coaches receive 50% off one players’ registration per team coached. LINK for registration procedure, training curriculum, and a coach equipment kit. The Head Coach will receive a 50% refund after the program registration deadline date and a team is confirmed.
- Coaches contact registered players after the Coach Meeting, Please be patient while waiting for this contact.
- Online Registrations are confirmed by email; if the information is omitted, notify SYSA via reply email.
- Once assigned to a team, the coach picks the practice field, days, and times. (Click for Field Locations).
COACH REGISTRATION – How to register (3 steps)
- Coach Registration: Log in to the Blue Sombrero account HERE.
Click on the volunteer tab, view divisions, and complete registration. - Background Check: All coaches must complete a SYSA background check annually. If you need one, SYSA will contact you.
- Abuse Prevention Video: All coaches are required to watch an Abuse Prevention Video. SYSA will contact you with a link for the video. Once the video is complete, the coach can be assigned to a team.
ALERT- for better communications, please add support@stacksports.com, clubnews@bluesombrero.com, and receptionist@sysa.com as contacts in your phone/email. There have been several issues with coaches and parents not receiving team information due to emails going to spam, junk, and trash.
