SYSA Spring Recreational Soccer League
We’re excited to kick off another season of recreational soccer this spring! Whether it’s your child’s first time or they’ve played before, there’s a place for everyone. Players are placed by birth year: 2021–2016 teams will practice once a week, while 2017–2012 teams will practice twice a week.
Games are every Saturday—come ready for fun, friends, and fresh skills! Families, we’d love your help with field setup, takedown, and cleanup at our six game-day locations. Your support makes the season possible—thank you!
Registration opens January 1
Season Dates
- Spring 2026 Season April 13 – May 29/30*
- Practices begin the week of April 13th, first game April 18th
- No games scheduled on Memorial Day, May 23rd.
- The last game of the 2026 spring season will be scheduled on either Saturday May 29th or Sunday May 30th depending on field availability at Dwight Merkel.
Registration Deadline
Register on or before March 5th for priority placement. Coach and player requests may not be available after the deadline.
*Note: Players who participated in the Fall 2025 League are already registered for the Spring League, so no additional registration is needed.
Divisions & Fees
Beginning Fall 2026, US Youth Soccer will return to grade-based team formation. For Spring 2026, SYSA teams will still be formed by birth year. Players may “play up” to join classmates in an older division, but players may not “play down” into a younger division. 8th graders with an Aug-Dec 2011 birth year may register and play in the 2013-2012 league.

Practices
- Practices begin week of April 13.
- 4v4/5v5 Teams (2021–2016): 1 practice per week
- 7v7/9v9 Teams (2017–2012): 2 practices per week
- Volunteer Coaches set the day, time, and location (Mon–Fri).

Uniforms
Jersey tops and socks will be provided for this program.
Player provides
- Weather-appropriate athletic gear: shirt, shorts, socks, shin guards (required), and athletic shoes/cleats
- Soccer ball: Size 3 (2021–2018), Size 4 (2017–2014), Size 5 (2013–2012)
- Labeled water bottle
Volunteer Coaches Always Needed!
- Most fall rosters carry over, but we welcome new coaches!
- All SYSA coaches are volunteers. Head Coaches receive 50% off one player’s registration (credit applied after registration closes and team is confirmed).

- Coaches set practice days, times, and fields once assigned.
- All coaches receive a coach’s kit: bibs, cones, game ball, whistle

Coaches Uniform Pick-Up
New spring coaches can pick up their team’s uniform bag at the SYSA Office, March 23–27, 9:00am–3:00pm.

Referees
We’re always short on referees, and we truly appreciate families and friends stepping in to help! If you referee a game for SYSA, you can submit your reimbursement using the link below. Thank you for helping make every game possible!
Picture Day: April TBD
Coaches will sign up for a photo session appointment with Dorian Studios based on their team’s game location in April. Once the photos are ready, the coach will receive them by mail and distribute them to the families at the end of the season.
