Two Summer Camps Offered
June 22 – June 26, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
July 13 – July 17, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Learn to Row program provides an immersive introduction to rowing through both land-based instruction and on-water practice. Participants learn basic rowing technique, boat handling, safety on the water, and teamwork.
Participants should wear basic workout clothes, shorts, and a shirt (tight-fitting is better) and water shoes. Boats are launched from the beach. Layering options depending on the weather. Bring a water bottle.
SYSA is excited to bring on rowing in partnership with Spokane River Rowing Association! Develop rowing skills and aerobic conditioning with Coach Riley Brooks using Concept indoor rowing ergs this winter! Learn and become more proficient at technical skills this winter! These skills will translate to on-water rowing in classic 4- or 8-person rowing classes (coming summer 2026)!
About the Coach
Coach Riley Brooks comes to SRRA from the Rose City Rowing Club in Portland, OR, where she was head coach for middle school rowers and assistant coach for the varsity team. She has over four years of comprehensive experience in youth rowing programs, progressing from Learn-to-Row through competitive varsity teams. She is passionate about fostering team culture, teaching technical excellence, and building inclusive, empowering spaces for young athletes. Coach Brooks was a competitive rower for 4 years in both varsity and novice boats. She competed in the 2024 HOCR in the Women’s Single and the Director’s Challenge double.
Grades: 6th – 12th
Fee: $80 per monthly session, limited to 10 participants, session will close early if filled
**A non-refundable 3% banking fee and a $1 service fee will be added at the time of checkout.
Time: 9:00 am – 10:30 am

January: 4 Saturdays 1/10, 1/17, 1/24,1/31 | Register by January 8th
February: 4 Saturdays 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28 | Register by February 5th
March: 4 Saturdays 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28 | Register by March 5th
April: 4 Saturdays 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2 | Register by April 9
*Each session includes an optional water experience on Sunday, June 14, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, on Silver Lake.
